Finding Our Way: A Story of the Minneapolis Sound Film Screening

Join us Saturday, June 6th from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM for “Finding Our Way: A Story of the Minneapolis Sound,” a film screening that traces the roots, risks, and creativity behind our city’s legendary Minneapolis Sound. Experience the stories of the artists and neighborhoods that shaped this music.

This short documentary takes a look at the origins of what came to be known as the Minneapolis Sound. Although Prince would lead the pack there was an extraordinary amount of musical talent in North Minneapolis. Many kids practiced with their bands in basements but a building that came out of civil unrest in the late 1960’s would become a nurturing space for all that local talent. The Way Community Center was a unique group of individuals who wanted the best for their community, and they set about to make that happen. A direct result of that work, helped to create a budding genre of music the whole world would come to hear.

This is a FREE event, but tickets must be reserved to guarantee seating. Please complete this form to reserve your seat and help preserve these stories and the legacy of this music. The film begins at 2:00 PM.
